A Mediterranean masterpiece with a pool and tennis court that last traded for $8.5m has sold for circa $18m.

The five-bedroom, four-bathroom mansion on a 1,186sqm block at 49 Kambala Road, Bellevue Hill is owned by Alukea Commodities executive director David Cobcroft.

Several agents are known to have been quietly showing potential buyers through the magnificent home — purchased by Cobcroft for $8.5m in 2007 — over the past few months with the $18m asking price.

But sources say LJ Hooker Double Bay’s David Malouf, who was eventually given the exclusive listing, has done the deal for close to the magic figure.
